What a truly amazing aspect of our anatomy is the human eye. Made up of the cornea, sclera, and retina it is what provides us with the breathtaking ability to view the world around us in full technicolor.
Unfortunately, there are instances where the human eye does not function to its true potential, and in these cases action is needed to keep it working smoothly and to capacity.

An example of a fairly common eye disorder that can be overcome, or at least kept under control, is Keratoconus, or Conical Cornea. This occurs when the front region of the eyeball becomes conical in shape. It is believed to be a progressive stage of either myopia or astigmatism. It can be treated though, by the employment of eye-relaxing techniques, which cause the eye to relax thus giving it a chance to strengthen. The Bates Method, or variations thereof, recommend this form of treatment as it relieves the pressure placed upon the eyeball.

Another eye disorder, which can be helped by natural methods, is Macular Degeneration. This condition usually affects the elderly and is due to damage to the retina, resulting in a loss of vision in the center of the visual field. The root causes of this disease, however, are lack of exercise, smoking, stress, and a variety of other lifestyle and genetic factors.
The Bates technique of shifting one's focus in a `swaying' motion, helps by improving circulation to the eyeball by relaxing and relieving strain.

Ocular headache is a disorder that often causes severe pain around or behind the eye and is believed to stem from tension wihin the eye muscles themselves. This condition is often accompanied by a retinal or ocular migraine, whereby an infarct or vascular spasm occurs behind the eye. The Bates Method visual technique has a lot of success easing this problem as it helps to relieve the stress and tension placed upon the eye.

The Bates Method, and variations of it, ask you to focus on an imaginary object with your eyes closed, then turn your eyes away from the object. Repetition of this excercise will aid in pain relief without having to resort to pills or other medications.

Contrary to some practitioners' current beliefs, there are natural ways to alleviate eye conditons and disorders; ones which don't involve surgery or medical interventions. The Bates Method employs techniques and exercises that can help your eyesight achieve its true potential, simply by focusing on the body's innate ability to heal itself.

Method to Improve Eyesight
How Sean Achieved his Lifelong Goal and Joined the Navy
Sean was a young man who wanted to join the navy but his eyesight wasn’t good enough to pass the medical. Vision without Glasses provided the techniques which enabled him to improve his vision and achieve his lifelong goal.
Sean was 35 year old who had trained as a mechanic when he first left school, and after working for a diesel truck repair business, decided to join the navy. He had always thought he would like to join the navy, for both his grandfather and father had both been navy men, and they both spoke highly of the experience. Sean visited the recruitment office and initially all went well, they seemed keen to have him, as his mechanical training in diesel engines stood him in good stead. His application suddenly became stalled however, when it was discovered his eyesight was not up to the required standard. For the position he was applying, he needed to have good vision without the aid of glasses. Sadly he didn’t. His long sightedness was not dramatic, but Sean had been using contact lenses for about five years at that time.
Sean visited an optometrist and several doctors, but to no avail. They all expressed their doubts as to his being able to achieve the required glassless vision level. For a period Sean was utterly down in the dumps, he’d always known he would join the navy and yet somehow it seemed his poor eyesight was preventing him on acting on his vision. He continued in his old job, almost giving up his idea of a new career in the navy. Sean’s wife was the one who discovered the link to the Vision Without Glasses website and when she told him about it, he immediately expressed interest, despite having some doubts about whether it could actually help him. He quickly decided to give it a go, despite his reservations, and even for some time after beginning the course, Sean half believed that because all the professionals he had visited couldn’t help, how could a simple set of eye exercises? Yet, despite Sean’s initial misgivings, within three months he noticed a general improvement in the way he could see, without wearing his contacts. He had by that stage reached a level of glassless vision which was acceptable to the navy and went on to pass the medical examination and be accepted into career he desired. His long-time dream had at last come true. The Vision Without Glasses’ techniques has saved the day.
Sean still needed to wear contact lenses, for though the navy required a certain level of vision without glasses or contacts, you could still wear them regardless of this fact. The prescription he used was quite different from what it had been previously however. His vision was far better and his optician, when comparing Sean’s vision level with what it had been previously, was quite amazed. When Sean told him of the way he had used the Vision Without Glasses program and asked the optician why he hadn’t suggested something similar, the eye doctor just said he had never thought that Sean’s eyes would have responded so dramatically to such a treatment. He even admitted to Sean that he would indeed recommend the treatment to other customers in cases which he thought it would benefit.
Sean now uses his improved eyesight to maintain the huge diesel engines aboard a navy frigate, and is pleased with the results and reckons the small amount of money he paid to obtain the Vision Without Glasses course was the best he’d ever spent. His wife agrees too.

Don't Let the World stress you

At the news of rising unemployment in Europe and North America it's difficult not to feel compassion for those experiencing the effects; the stress of their lives being tipped upside down; families struggling, employment worsening and youth with energy to burn but nowhere constructive to work it off.

It's during these times when discontent emerges, bringing with it riots and crime. Right now, in different parts of Europe, people are hurting badly; tension is building; families, schools, and businesses are being disrupted as a consequence and future prospects are vanishing before the eyes. It is at times like this that the need for strong leaders is most critical.

Unfortunately, the vast majority is too close to what is happening to be objective; when leaders are forced to make unpleasant decisions for the future of their country, reactions can be volatile. Greece, Italy, Ireland; all are experiencing trouble. Forget who and what is to blame; their governments now have the unenviable task of hauling their country back into the black.

So what's the answer? Is it possible to avoid the violence and hurt and longer term failure and find a better way?

For change to happen there must be agreement; to rise above current problems and avert dire predictions, peoples need to pull together. It is not the responsibility of any government to shoulder change on its own; its citizens, to reach a common goal of success and prosperity for their country and subsequently themselves, need an attitude of one-for-all and all-for-one, and the preparedness to cooperate for the common goal of turning the current economic climate around.

It won't be easy; in fact, let's be real; it will be downright hard. But what are the alternatives? What is likely to occur if the situation is left to continue unchecked?
A breakdown of society as we know it? Mass depression? Wide-spread poverty? Increasing crime? The results, if left to carry on with the status quo, could be horrific and the hardships for the current and future generations, much more difficult to overcome and contain.

The answer? I wish I knew; but one thing I do know is that when people work together for a common cause, they will generally overcome.

What We Eat Affects Our Vision

Most of us may not have even considered that what we eat affects your vision, but it does. Foods that are rich in certain nutrients and vitamins help to improve our eyesight, while those that are high in fats or are processed can damage it. Given that simply adding or omitting certain foods can help you to avoid a number of eye conditions without using chemicals or surgery to repair your vision, it's worth changing your diet to improve your vision.

The Foods that Help Our Vision. There are a number of foods which can positively affect your vision. Here is a brief list of the foods that are essential for eye health.

• Salmon contains high levels of vitamins A and D, as well as Omega-3 fatty acids. Not only can these elements help to boost your eye health, but they can also improve brain function.

• Dark chocolate, due to its antioxidants and flavanoids, which protect blood vessels found within the eye, aid in overall eye health. Make sure to eat chocolate bars that contain at least 60% cocoa, however, as you will gain the most benefit from these.

• Leafy green vegetables, such as spinach and broccoli, aid in eye health with antioxidants that they contain. As steaming them will allow for them to lose vital vitamins and nutrients, make certain to eat them fresh whenever possible.

• Carrots contain beta-carotene, which has been shown to increase the health of your eye, and help to alleviate certain eye conditions. Sweet potatoes and pumpkin also boast beta-carotene power, so you can eat those instead if you carrots aren't to your liking.

• Eggs contain protein, Vitamin B, and zinc, which ensure improved vision. You can eat them fried, scrambled, or boiled to get the benefit from them, but be sure to eat the yoke as well.

• Garlic, surprisingly, is another great eye health booster. Sulfur is found within it, which aids in the strength of the lenses of your eyes. Eating garlic fresh is best, so that you receive all the benefits it has to offer.

The Foods that Hinder Our Vision. Recent studies have shown that foods that are high in sugars, such as certain candies or various other sweets, can hinder your vision and increase the risk of being diagnosed with several eye ailments, such as macular degenaration. Also, foods that are highly processed or contain preservatives can cause inflammation and deplete the vitamins you have already stored. In addition, caffeine can negatively affect your vision as well, due to the fact that it has the ability to undo all of the good work you've done for your eyes, by ridding the body of the crucial nutrients and minerals that your otherwise healthy diet had gathered.

Maintaining and balanced and nutritious diet is key to keeping your eyes healthy and staving off eye conditions and ailments. By eating right, you can improve your vision naturally, as well as keep your body in tip-top shape.
